How to Wire Switch and Outlet Combo

A switch and outlet combo can be configured in several ways.

Switch can control the light only.
Switch can control the light and outlet.
Switch and the outlet can have different lines in.

Switch controls light only

Switch controls light and outlet

The metal tab is removed from the left side of the switch/outlet. Line is connected to the left side of the switch. The right side of the switch/outlet becomes switched line.

Switch and Outlet Combo Wiring Diagrams

The metal tab is removed from the left side of the switch/outlet.

Switch and outlet have different lines (A&B) phases

Tabs are removed from both sides of the switch/outlet to totally isolate the top and bottom halves.

Tab is removed to allow different line phases to the switch and outlet.
